Claire's Corner: Light Enough for All

Poetry from Claire Sylvan’s book, Turnings

Light Enough for All

Last night in Solstice moon-dark, the stars,
All the stars, came out dancing.

This morning they were still at it,
All across the frozen snowy lake,
Flirting shamelessly with the sun.

O you brilliant beings
I would preserve you in jars,
To offer in the dark and cold
To ones whose hope has faltered,
Saying, here, here is light,
And here too, ah, look!

Light is here and everywhere,
Whether we come to the door and look,
Or eyes shut in weeping, huddle deep.
